Welcome 2010!

Wow 2010! I have decided this year instead of making New Year's resolutions which by noon on January 1st I have failed 90% of them if not all of them, that I will make a list of 10 things to accomplish this year instead. This way maybe my chance of success will be higher.

1. Diet. Okay after 20+ years of being overweight, I am dedicated to change this year. I truly have to make a conscious effort to eat properly, cut down on junk food and no eating at night while watching TV, especially while watching Biggest Loser...LOL. I have not always been overweight, in fact, was quite slim and trim during my teenage years...(oh to have that body now?). When I got married the first time around in 1983 when I was only 19 years old I was about 130 pounds. My cousin got married 2.5 months after me and I had ballooned up to 175 in that short period of time. It has been a constant battle ever since then, up and down like a yoyo but never quite achieving my goal, well actually being far from my goal. I have decided that with the girls having moved out and the boys almost self sufficient of themselves, it is time that I take time for myself and concentrate on getting myself healthy. My goal is to lose 35 pounds which will still put me in the "overweight" category according to the BMI but this way it doesn't seem that far away to achieve. I will be posting a Monday morning weigh-in session on my blog so you can see my progress! First weigh-in Monday January 4th!!!

2. Exercise. Okay as much as I hate exercise, I think it goes hand in hand with diet and losing weight! I have bought myself a dvd of Jillian from Biggest Loser and have made myself a schedule for the week. I have blocked time in everyday to exercise for 30 minutes. I have joined gyms in the past, etc. etc. but have never followed through. I am hoping by making my weekly schedule and blocking off time, I will get off my butt and actually do this. I am committing myself to start January 4th! Since I quit my job and have been working at home, all I do is sit so I think it is time to move! I am going to be exercising Monday-Friday.

3. Etsy Shop. My plan for 2010 is to do a bunch of crafts and open an etsy shop and see how I do. I am always concerned my stuff isn't "good enough" but I have to try and have more self confidence!

4. Cleaning. Okay since I quit my job 3 years ago, I thought oh how great will this be to be home and get so much done around the house...NOT!!! I feel I am constantly stuck to this computer and my house has never been in worse shape than when I was working outside the home. Again, in my weekly schedule, I have blocked in time during the week to clean my house.

5. Finish all craft projects. I have so many knitting/crochet/craft projects on the go right now it is ridiculous. I obviously don't have a long attention span. It is my goal this year to complete all unfinished projects!

6. Paint house. Okay it has been over 5 years since we have done anything to the house. After seeing my daughter redo her new house, it has inspired me to paint the house (well my husband will paint and I will supervise). I think with a fresh start for 2010, the house should match with a fresh start!

7. Craft Room. I am so excited to finally get a craft room. As soon as my daughter moves the rest of her stuff out of her room, I am going to paint and decorate and get my craft room all set up.

8. Laundry Room. I am hoping to finally get my laundry room finished as it has sat for the last 7 years without drywall or anything. I need it to be organized as my office is right beside it and it is such an eyesore!

9. Friends. I am going to have to take a stand and not make the first move with my friends all the time. Why am I the one to make the first move over and over again? I would really like people to phone, text, e-mail etc. me first. (okay maybe pmsing right now, not sure but this really bugs me)!

10. Be thankful/grateful. I need to take a step back in certain situations, and be thankful for what I have and that life is so precious and short that you really need to just suck it up sometimes and not worry about the stupid little things.

Okay well that is it. I have 12 months to accomplish these things. I have rearranged the livingroom today and we are heading out to get paint and closet doors tomorrow! Whoot Whoot!
I hope everyone had a great New Year's and that 2010 is a wonderful year for everyone....I think it is going to ROCK!!!
Until next time xxooDebbie

Happy New Year!

My last craft post of the year 2009! I am really beginning to like crocheting...this little number took me only an hour while I watched my soap yesterday. I am going to try and finish the other one today. Hubby wants me to make him a pair in black!
Wow tomorrow is 2010...I can't believe this year is already gone. I really can't believe that it has been 10 years since 2000! I can remember it like it was yesterday. The boys were only 4 and 7 and it was their first New Year's that they actually stayed up until midnight.
Well since we moved back to this area from Ottawa in 1993 I have been spending New Year's with my mom and her husband. We have a fondue, play some games and then watch the ball drop at midnight, have a glass of champagne and go to bed. This year my mother has cancelled and I am at a loss of what to do? Cody said he wants the fondue regardless so I guess we are going to have the fondue, maybe play Wii and watch the ball drop, have champagne and go to bed! LOL! What is everybody else doing for New Year's?
Well I hope everyone has a wonderful New Year's and that 2010 is filled with health, wealth and happiness for everyone!
Until nex time xxooDebbie

Mamma Mia!

Well I hope everyone had a great Christmas...we sure did! I got the wii system and a couple of games to go with it and a tasimo coffee maker so my coffee will be ready in a few seconds in the morning which is a good thing as I am definitely not a morning person! My hubby totally blew my mind on Christmas as he actually went out and thought of this all on his own and if you knew my hubby, you would be amazed too, as he has to have a list every year. Well he got us tickets to see Mamma Mia! They are coming to Toronto in April and he made sure he got the tickets for May 1st (our anniversary)...WOW!!! I am still in shock! LOL

I have been working on a journal/planner for 2010 and I am not really sure what I am doing but I am sure I will figure it out. Here are a couple of my sections I have completed so far...definitely think this is going to be a thick one.

This is the section for my knitting patterns that I come across!

This section is for all my great ideas...LOL! I think when I am finally finished I am going to have about 8 or 9 sections...will keep you updated as I finish them.
Well still working on my 10 things to accomplish for 2010...will be posting that on January 1. I think this will be a great year!
Until next time xxooDebbie

Long-term project!

Okay I have always wanted to try my hand at felting, so this is the project. I think it is so cute! This is going to take me a while. There are 260 stitches on this! This will be the project I bring along and knit a few rows here and there. When I am done....maybe next year (LOL)...you throw it in the washing machine to give it the "felted" look. I worked on this the whole Survivor finale and I only accomplished 6 rows...hehehehe....

YIKES....3 more days until Christmas! I wrapped last night for over 2 hours and last week for 2 hours and I haven't even come close to finishing! I guess I am off to wrap again!
10 more days until 2010...I have 6 things on my list of 10 things to accomplish in 2010....
What are your goals for 2010?
Until next time xxooDebbie

Snowflakes!

This is the only kind of snowflakes I want to see this winter! Okay, it can snow Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and then it can go away and come back next Christmas. I have never been a big fan of snow and could care less if we got any at all...LOL!
Mallory is coming over today and we are baking cookies so that should be fun! I am looking forward to a visit with her. Only 4 more days on the countdown...I am just about ready...just two more gift cards, some food and finally done!
I am still working hard on my 10 things to accomplish for 2010!
Until next time ... xxooDebbie

ONE MORE WEEK!!!

Okay besides looking tired in this picture (LOL)...I crocheted this cowl last night....I think I am enjoying doing some crocheting for a bit as the projects finish up a lot quicker than knitting. Although don't get me wrong...I still have many unfinished knitting projects on the go as well. I finished this just in time because it is sooooooooooooo cold outside....I hate the cold and I hate it even more year after year. I do believe I will be one of the snow birds that head down south every winter! hmmmm let's see only 15 or so more years to wait!!! hehehehe

Okay one week today and it's Christmas. I went out this morning and got some more gifts. I am heading out tomorrow to finish up...regardless I am finishing tomorrow...omg note to self, do not plan an anniversary party for 150 people a couple of weeks before Christmas???

Until next time.... xxooDebbie

Popcorn!!

How cute is this....I was bored last night and decided to crochet this popcorn bucket. Good thing for you tube....I had no idea how to do a "popcorn stitch" and ta da....there it is....so now I have to buy some felt and put a little label on it that says "POP" and make a bunch, sew them together and it is a popcorn scarf!!!

The countdown is on....15 more days until 2010...now are we saying 20-10 or two thousand and ten??? hmmmm don't know? But for some reason I feel this is the beginning of a fresh new start...I am making my list of 10 things to accomplish in 2010! I hope you follow along with me in my journey to accomplish them?

Until next time xxooDebbie

I have been corrected....LOL!

My son informed me yesterday after reading my blog that stuff does happen in our little town. We have had the set of "Happy Town" filming in our little town all summer! It is to be released in March....it is from the producers of Twin Peaks...it is going to be a series I believe. It is kind of funny to look at the trailer and see our town done up like a small town in the States....with American Flags all downtown etc.

One of the drug stores downtown had a fire a couple of years ago and it has sat empty. I remember driving by and saying oh look they are turning it into a "pizza barn" well that's stupid as there is a pizza joint across the street, ..turns out it was just a prop for the movie!!! LOL...

The scenes from the carnival were set up down a little side street where our library is...it was so funny to see all the carnival booths set up in the parking spots along the street.

If you watch the trailer and see the main street, that is where I live in our own little "Happy Town"...

Well 10 more days til Christmas....I have most of my shopping done, gonna finish up this Saturday. Mallory is coming Monday to make cookies and then I just have to finish up buying some food and I will be done! Well have a good one....

Here are a few things on my Christmas list this year! I am determined to try and get healthy and in shape for 2010! I am too much of a wimp to go out in the cold to walk, hate the treadmill, so I am hoping if I get the Wii I can get my butt off this computer chair and do a workout everyday! Wish me luck!!!
What is on everyone elses Christmas list this year??

It's official....Christmas countdown!!

When I look at this picture, I think of the movie Christmas Vacation and the cat eating the lights...LOL....I took a quick picture and then took the lights away from him before he ended up like the cat in that movie!!!
We normall don't go cut down our tree until the first weekend in December, but with the Anniversary Party this weekend and every weekend booked until Christmas, we went out and got our tree on Sunday. It was very different this year, no girls with us and my youngest stayed home as he did not want to come? I think this is the first time in a long time that we cut down our tree without any snow or without it freezing!!

Ta Da....only Dillon and I decorated the tree this year...I think we did an amazing job!I just can't believe it is the Christmas season again...it seems like only a couple of months ago I took down all the Christmas decorations...this year has flown by way too quick! I am working on an art journal of the 10 things I want to accomplish in the year 2010....anybody have any "resolutions" they are contemplating for the New Year? I would love to know what everyone's goals are for next year!
Until next time...xxooDebbie
