Random Facts Wednesday, Big News, coffee cozies!

Random Facts:
1. I had the mumps when I was 6.
2. I got the chicken pox when I was 8 months pregnant with my last child! (ended up in the hospital)
3. I figure skating for almost 10 years. I haven't skated since I was 17!! I would probably fall flat on my butt!
4. I love roller coasters (which I find very strange considering how petrified I am of heights?)
5. I love subs!!!

I had so much fun making the owl hat last week that I decided to make some more patterns out of my head!! I am really happy with how the cupcake coffee cozy turned out, not so sure about the owl? I am on a roll...next...maybe a panda bear and cozy for hot chocolate with marshmallows on it??
Now for the exciting news!!! For those of you who don't follow me on facebook or twitter, my husband met his birth father Friday night!!! It was certainly an emotional time at my house! I will try and keep this as condensed as possible. My husband was adopted and his adoptive parents were in their 40s when they adopted him and they have both passed away. About 10 years ago we got in touch with Children's Aid to obtain his adoption papers. Well those took 2 years to get to us (big waiting list). There are no names mentioned but it just tells you about parents and/or any siblings. Well it turns out his father and mother were married and there were 7 children of the marriage, my Mark being #4!! Well I think I missed my calling because I turned into a private investigator and found his father, one brother and one uncle(dad's brother)!!! Mark has spoken to his brother only once and his father a couple of times (he lives in BC) which might as well be across the world for us to get there. We have met the uncle and aunt and have kept in touch with them.
On boxing day, Mark got a call from another uncle (dad's other brother) who had just found out about Mark. They spoke on the phone for a few hours and he said he wanted to come and meet Mark. Well last Monday he phoned and said he wanted to come on Friday for a visit. Well he showed up Friday with somebody in the car and said it was his "friend" as he was having car problems and his "friend" had to drive him and could his "friend" come in? Well his "friend" turned out to be Mark's dad!!! Wow!! I am so happy for Mark!!!
Well I hope everyone is having a great week!

Whoooo designed this hat??

I DID!!! As you may or may not know, I am a self taught knitter and crocheter. Now my knitting skills are not too bad but I am by no means a crochet expert...I know the very minimum! I designed this hat all by myself and pretty much made up the pattern as I went along and I think it is pretty cool!! I guess it is a tooting (or is that hooting) my own horn day!!! LOL.

No signs of any mouse today...phew...of course whenever I walk into my office/craft room, I yell and bang on the walls to scare him away!!! hehehehe

Random Fact Wednesday

Well let me first start off by saying my morning was awful!!! I came downstairs, sat at my computer, getting ready to work when out of the corner of my eye I saw movement, I looked over at my printer and there was a MOUSE staring at me!!!! OMG I flew out of my chair at lightening speed and ran into the recroom where my son was trying to sleep as he is home from school sick. Needless to say, he was laughing at me and then I text my husband who phoned me and he proceeded to laugh at me! I did not want to work today...but unfortunately, I have to, so here I sit, every 5 seconds checking for a mouse by my feet. I have my pant legs tucked into my slippers in case it crawls up my pants!!! I am not impressed...he gave me the willy's!!!

So let's start off with:

1. I am afraid of mice!
2. I love raspberries.
3. My favourite restaurant is Red Lobster.
4. I have seen every season of Survivor.
5. I get headaches almost everyday.

I have been surfing the net and crochet hexigons are all the rage...well of course I had to give it a try...I am loving it!
So these little numbers are pot scrubbers. I made 2 of them while watching TV the other night. I think they will make cute little gifts! I hope everyone is having a "mouse free" day!

MIA?

I know I am a bad blogger this week. This has been the week from H. E. double chopsticks!! It was March Break here which is great but the girl I cover for at work needed 4 days off this week and me being the person who can't say "no" covered for her. Also, I have a new account for work and had to devote some time for that as well. I did manage to take Wednesday off and take the boys out for lunch and then we went to the show to go see She's out of my league!! It was pretty funny!!

I am a little sad too, I seem to have lost a follower??? :(

I missed my random facts Wednesday so here they are a few days late...lol

1. I love/hate my job. I love that I am able to work from home but being a medical transcriptionist has turned me into a hypochondriac...I have a new disease everyday!
2. I daydream way too much! If I spent half my time being productive instead of daydreaming, the things I could accomplish!
3. I love babies...I am so looking forward to grandchildren (no pressure Mallory and Tiffany...hehehe).
4. I have never really grown up...I love toys. I collect Bratz dolls, stuffed animals, etc. I actually had a spongebob cake for my 40th birthday!
5. I wish I could play a muscial instrument.

I really wish I could sew. This is my attempt at a phone cozy. I need tips on how to cut out felt nice and straight?
Doodle share. I think this would make a cute tattoo as well. A long time ago we were watching The Dating Story (it used to come on before a Baby Story) and the girl on there said you always add the words "in bed" after your fortune. So of course we have been doing that ever since. I think it would be funny to have this as a tattoo and have the words "in bed" on the fortune!

Can you see the mess behind me on one of my craft tables? OMG I need to find some time to get organized!!!! I have been so busy with work that everything has been put on hold! I need to clean and get organized big time!
****I am sooooooooo excited today!!! New Moon comes out today and of course I pre-ordered my copy!!! yah!!! will be watching that tonight!!
I hope everyone is having a great weekend!
Until next time xxoo Debbie

Food for thought?

When they say that the mind is the first to go, I believe them? The older I get, the worse it gets. There are blocks of time in my past that I have totally erased in my VCR in my head (yes I said VCR-aging myself). Mark will say to me...do you remember...blah blah blah and I have no clue what he is talking about? I often joke with him and ask him if he will still love me when I don't know who he is?? I shouldn't really joke about it as my grandmother (dad's mom) had Alzheimer's really bad...she was probably in her 40s when it all started and by the end, she didn't know anybody and had regressed to infancy. She died really young age 62.

The other day my son went into the fridge to look for something and asked why there was a pair of scissors in the fridge??? So now that is the running joke of the day! Of course I have the typical..."why did I come into this room" situation all the time. My oldest daughter came over on Sunday for a little visit and I guess I had asked her the same question a few times over and over? They say you need to exercise the brain...well we all know how much I hate exercise, but you would think that what I do for a living would be exercise enough, but I guess not.

So I was reading Melodee's blog (one of my daily reads) and she has a post about numbers. When I read it, I thought OMG she is so right!!! Why is it that I obviously put scissors in the fridge, cannot remember what I had for dinner last night, walk into a room for no apparent reason but if you throw any age or time of my life at me I can tell you what I weighed??? I know what I weighed when I was 14, 16, when I got married the first time and the second time, how much I weighed before each pregnancy, after each pregnancy, I can even remember what I weighed each and every time I joined Weight Watchers, or TOPS, or started the newest fad diet. I can remember how much I weighed at my lowest, my highest and I can even tell you how much I weighed this time last year! It boggles my mind. So I guess when I am in the nursing home and don't know who anybody is, if you hear me rambling off numbers, you will know what I am rambling about. Just food for thought.

My art work is rubberized!!!!

Oh I am so excited to see my artwork in rubber!!!!!!!! Lindsay asked if I could draw her a panda and make it into a rubber stamp? Well I am always up for a challenge and took the plunge! I decided that while I was getting her panda made, I would make a little logo stamp for potluck designs. I am pleased with how they turned out! Of course I added that little border last night to jazz it up. So now I am inspired to try and find a place that can do a bunch of rubber stamps at a reasonable price (as this place was a little pricey!) and get some of my "little kids" made into stamps!!! Thanks Lindsay and I hope you enjoy your panda!
I hope everyone has a great weekend!! Double date night tomorrow for me...I am so looking forward to it!!!

Random Facts Wednesday

I have had a couple of people ask me about my Monday weigh-in this week! Well I have decided to switch it to Monthly weigh-in as I am probably boring people with the same 2 pounds I am up and down...LOL!!! I have been a little bit more motivated this week, I think the nice weather is helping so hopefully I will have something to report on April 1st!

Random Facts:
1. I am a little on the stubborn side (or so I have been told). What can I say, my zodiac is Taurus and the first trait is stubborness?? go figure...hehehe
2. I am a bit of a procrastinator...hmmm who knew?
3. I am absolutely petrified of June bugs. If one flies by me, OMG I am running for cover!!! I am getting chills just typing about them!
4. I love to sing! I am terrible at it but I just love to do it. I would have probably given William Hung a run for his money on American Idol..LOL!
5. I do not know how to play chess. Both my sons have tried to teach me and I just don't get it? LOL..
Well I have decided to go with these squares for the Great Granny Swap! I have 13 done and only 8 more to go! I have to have them to Amber by April 9 (in the States) so better get my butt in gear, hence #2 on my random list.

I hope everyone had a great weekend and is having a fantastic week!

Random Facts Wednesday

Wow it's Wednesday again! This year is just flying. I am so happy today because there is a hint of spring in the air. The sun is shining and the birds are chirping and I know spring is just around the corner!!! whoot whoot!!

Random Facts:
1. I have 3 tattoos. I got my first one when I was 30. My second one, my oldest daughter and I got matching ones. The third is similar to my youngest daughter only mine is on a much larger scale! (the whole outside of my calf) hehehe..I am itching to get another one!
2. I got my appendix out when I was 6.
3. I love, love, love Sex and the City. I have seen the whole series about 6+ times over. Saw the first movie with my daughters and I am so excited to see the second one. We are making it a mother/daughters night out again!
4. I definitely do not have a "green thumb". I kill everything plant-like. Try as I might to make my house look nice with plants, I fail! :( Mark is in charge of our flowerbed at the trailer...hehehe
5. Even though my doodle share is popcorn, I really don't like popcorn.

Doodle Share:

This is my idea for my next tattoo...how cool would that be? I hope everyone is having a great week!

Monday Weigh In

Well here we are again...Monday and the first of March! I am down 2 pounds...wow...so 2 pounds in two months! leaps and bounds...as I ripped off the February sheet off my calendar this morning I thought okay this is it!!! I have to get motivated...I don't know where my motivation went but it soon will be spring and I will be the same weight! Of course last week I had good intentions about using the recumbent bike but as usual I have come up with a million excuses and it still sits in my recroom covered in dust! So Mark is back on days this week so it is the perfect time, get my work done and get my butt off my computer chair and log some miles! Wish me luck!
We went to Picton on Saturday and checked out a yarn store...of course after getting Mark to drive all that way...I couldn't leave without buying something...hehehehe....I just love these colours...I am making a throw cause you know it's not like I have 15 other projects on the go or that I have to get 22 granny squares done before the end of the month! Is it just me or does anyone else have A.D.D. when it comes to crafting...??? I have good intentions when I start something but then get diverted and easily distracted into making something else? Although lately I have been pretty good in finishing up some projects, not all, but some.
So on our way to Picton we stopped at a couple of flea markets. I picked up all these old pattern books and that little owl...(isn't he the cutest?) for $4.00. I was looking through some of the books and realized most of the old styles are coming back..
So now I have a brillant idea to make an owl hat so I am sure the throw will be put on the back burner while I try and figure out how to make the owl hat....I wonder if there are any help groups out there for people like me who can't start and finish a project without 50 other projects on the go??
PS> I just realized after looking at the pictures of the books that my "to-do list" is sitting on the table....hehehehe...told you I was a list lady! Okay off to get some things checked off the list!
Hope everyone has a great week!
Until next time xxooDebbie
